For total gray matter volume, white surface area, cerebral white matter volume, subcortical gray matter volume and pallidum, the best fit model included sex as a main effect. For cortex volume, the best fitting model included an interaction between sex and age. Female participants and their best fitting GAM model are represented in yellow, whereas males are represented in green.
