Distribution of severity of clinical mastitis cases in % (absolute number of cases) within a type of farm and for a given bacterial species. Severity was scored as described before (13) as follows: unknown, mild (1; abnormal milk only), moderate (2; abnormal quarter), or severe (3; abnormal cow).
