Initial condition: uncontrollable childhood and life course stressors. Exposure to adverse socioeconomic conditions increases the likelihood of exposure to uncontrollable childhood and life course stressors. Past exposure to such stressors is likely to influence primary appraisal for subsequent stimuli and access to coping resources
