An overview of potentially innovative strategies to improve cancer immunotherapy through the manipulation of metabolic reprogramming. Glutamine, ATAC1, IDO, lactate and TLRs might be considered novel “metabolic checkpoints”, the targeting of which could potentially enhance the function of immune cells to better achieve anti-tumor effects.
