Characteristics of the total patient cohort and the three subgroups: Patients were classified according to the most severe COVID-19 category according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification, asymptomatic (B), moderate (C), severe disease (D). Comparison between the age and the body mass index (BMI) of the patients was performed with the Kruskal–Wallis test; comparison of sex distribution between groups was performed with the Chi-square test for trend. Statistical significance was set at the level of p < 0.05.
