FIG 6.
Role of Cyr1 and PKA in disinfectant susceptibility of C. auris. The survival rates of the WT strain and cyr1Δ (YSBA21), bcy1Δ (YSBA4), tpk1Δ (YSBA13), tpk2Δ (YSBA17), and tpk1Δ tpk2Δ (YSBA24) mutant strains were measured after exposure to sodium hypochlorite (0.65% NaClO) (A), chlorine dioxide (1,000 ppm ClO2) (B), or 10% povidone-iodine (C) for 30 s as previously described (52). The percent survival rate was calculated by comparing the colony pop-up ratio between the control group and the disinfectant-treated group. Three independent biological experiments were performed; data represent means ± SEM. The statistical significance of the difference was determined by one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni’s multiple-comparison test (*, P < 0.05; **, P < 0.01; ***, P < 0.001; ****, P < 0.0001; NS, not significant).
