Models included the response variable Ixodes pacificus density (counts with an offset that consisted of the area flagged for each substrate). All substrate-level density models were analyzed with the package glmmTMB in program R (v 4.0.3). Akaike’s information criterion (AIC) was used to rank all models and select the most parsimonious model with the best fit.
