Inhibition of rotenone-induced cytotoxicity by the test compounds in PC12 cells. PC12 cells were pre-treated for 4 h with compound 7b (a), 8a (b), 8b (c), and 8e (d) or rasagiline at the indicated concentrations and subsequently exposed to rotenone (1 μM) for an additional 24 h. Cell viability was evaluated by MTT assay as described in the Materials and methods. Data are expressed as the mean ± SEM of at least three independent experiments. * p < 0.05, @ p < 0.05, and # p < 0.05 vs. the vehicle-treated control, rasagiline-treated, and rotenone-treated cells, respectively.
