Gain-of-function Bax mutants kill 293T cells with accelerated kinetics. Plasmid HA-pcDNA3 (Vector) or HA-pcDNA3 encoding WT-Bax (Bax) or mutants Bax-B (B) and Bax-C (C) (2.0 μg each) was transfected into 293T cells. The percentages of apoptotic nuclei were scored 6, 12, and 18 h after transfection (mean ± standard deviation; n = 3).
