The left part of the table shows odds ratios (OR) and their 95% confidence intervals for the case of univariable regressions both for the crude association and adjusted for the confounders age, sex, BMI, and statins. The right part shows the OR computed by an elastic net logistic regression to account for the correlation across the lipids. An OR > 1 refers to increased risk, and OR < 1 refers to a protective effect with respect to a unit change in a particular characteristic.
