Studies use different methods to apply load to tendon experimentally, such as direct tendon loading applied to the patellar tendon, reaching and grasping tasks aimed at loading the flexor digitorum tendon, active (via muscle stimulation) or passive ankle dorsiflexion aimed to load the Achilles, and treadmill running in different configurations mainly loading the Achilles or rotator cuff tendons.
