Interventions | Intervention: patients of providers assigned to the proactive study group will be contacted by specially trained counselors at the Veterans Affairs Quitline. Counselors will attempt to provide 2 sessions of proactive telephone support Control: usual care |
Outcomes | Self‐reported abstinence from smoking for 7 days, biochemically confirmed with saliva cotinine 12 months after lung cancer screening |
