Mn resister cells do not resist oxidative stress. Four biological replicates of wt (circles) and Mn resister_C strains were passaged 5 times in low-iron SS medium and then pregrown for 8 h in low-iron SS medium in the absence (gray symbols) or presence (yellow symbols) of 100 nM Mn. Cultures were then treated with 70 μM dipyridyl and 0.9 mM paraquat, and after an initial period of 36 h, growth was monitored every 12 h by OD₆₀₀ measurements. The dot plot shows the individual data points for all strains.
