The two STRING networks depict interrelationships between proteins shown to be present at significantly higher abundance in the inhibiting sputum samples with a cefotaxime concentration below the MIC (inh+/cefo−) (left) and the noninhibiting sputum samples (inh−) (right). Individual proteins are represented as spheres, labeled with the respective gene names as listed in Table S3. Of note, human proteins identified by our proteome analysis, but not included in the STRING database, are not represented in the two networks. Identified proteins that are not connected with the network are excluded.
