Since January 2020 Elsevier has created a COVID-19 resource centre with free information in English and Mandarin on the novel coronavirus COVID-19. The COVID-19 resource centre is hosted on Elsevier Connect, the company's public news and information website. Elsevier hereby grants permission to make all its COVID-19-related research that is available on the COVID-19 resource centre - including this research content - immediately available in PubMed Central and other publicly funded repositories, such as the WHO COVID database with rights for unrestricted research re-use and analyses in any form or by any means with acknowledgement of the original source. Fig. 1 — Summary of the COVID-19 epidemic in Malaysia and different movement control orders (MCO) introduced. MCO 1.0 restricted religious, social, educational and non-essential activities and inter-state travel. The conditional MCO (CMCO) partially allowed social activities and inter-state travel, and allowed non-essential economic activities. The CMCO was not implemented in all states. The recovery MCO (RMCO) partially allowed religious and educational activities and allowed inter-state travel. The MCO restrictions were reinstated in certain states for a second time in January 2021 and a third time in May 2021 (widely dubbed MCO 2.0 and MCO 3.0 respectively). During the full lockdown, all social and economic sectors are not allowed to operate except for essential services.
