Changing directionality of ramified processes may indicate bias towards dynamic and invisible cytokine/chemokine gradients. In one microglial cell, imaged within the nerve fiber layer, processes are observed to attain a directional bias at certain timepoints (Visualization 4 (25.5MB, avi) ). Dark yellow arrow show change in directional bias of processes of one cell, over tens of minutes.
