Figure 16

Expression profiles of used candidate genes at transcriptomic level after treatment with catechol at 37° C for 8 h. The genes responsible for adhesion, filamentous growth and biofilm formation such as HWP1, RAS1, and ALS3 were significantly downregulated in catechol treated cells. TUP1, a negative transcription regulator of filamentation was upregulated. The relative gene expression was calculated by 2−ΔΔCT method using C. albicans ITS region as housekeeping internal control gene. Error bars indicates the mean values of three experimental duplicates. The “* “and “**” symbols represents the statistical significance of p < 0.05 and p < 0.01, respectively.
