Figure 3.

Schematic of control peptides and the effect of thiol on AuNR growth. (A) Cleavage schematic and UV–vis spectra of nanoparticles prepared using the thiol-free peptide GGKGGG at a constant concentration and increasing trypsin concentration. AuNRs with an aspect ratio greater than 3.5 are synthesized; the growth process is unchanged in the presence of trypsin. (B) Schematic and concentration-dependent UV–vis spectra of gold nanoparticles made with the control monothiol peptide, GGKGCG. Increasing GGKGCG concentration results in a blue shift and a reduction in the aspect ratio of AuNRs. (C) Cleavage schematic and UV–vis spectra of gold nanoparticle samples prepared with a constant GGKGCG concentration and increasing trypsin concentration. AuNRs with an aspect ratio less than 3.5 are synthesized; the growth process is unchanged in the presence of trypsin.
