(a) S. canicula lbx1 is expressed laterally just above the mid-point of the dorsal-ventral axis. (b) lbx2 is not expressed in the spinal cord although it is expressed in the hindbrain (black arrow heads in c) and gut (black arrow heads in d). (e) whole-mount and (f) cross-section of in situ hybridisation in Xenopus tropicalis (X. tropicalis) at stages 35 and 32 respectively. (e) lbx1 is expressed in a line of cells along the whole rostral-caudal axis of the spinal cord.
