Indications and Contraindications for Arthroscopic Proximal Trochlear Resection

Indications Contraindications
  • Dejour type B or D dysplasia with a supratrochlear spur ≥5 mm

  • “Jumping” J sign on examination

  • Symptomatic patellar instability

  • Planned medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction with knee arthroscopy

Absolute:
  • Skeletally immature patient with open physes

Relative:
  • Planned definitive trochleoplasty

  • Short trochlear length

  • Uncorrected osseous abnormalities (e.g., significant femoral anteversion)
