Gut-on-a-chip general schematic. A typical gut-on-a-chip (GoC) is composed of two chambers separated by a semipermeable membrane. One chamber is seeded with cells reconstituting the GIT epithelium, while the second is seeded with other cell phenotypes representing the sub-epithelial environment.
