Histone acetylation levels in SIRT6+/+ and SIRT6+/– mice. (A–C) Acetylation levels of histone 3 lysine 9 (H3K9) was significantly increased in aorta from SIRT6+/– mice compared to SIRT6+/+ mice (*p < 0.05). Qualitative examination of micrographs suggested that increases in histone acetylation occurred throughout the vessel wall (i.e., in both endothelium and vascular smooth muscle layers) (SIRT6+/+ n = 6 and SIRT6+/– n = 6).
