Deletion of csrA resulted in a thermo-sensitive phenotype. A. baumannii strains were grown overnight at 37°C in mineral medium with succinate. Strains harboring the pBAV1K plasmid were grown in the presence of 50 μg/ml kanamycin. The precultures grown in mineral medium with succinate were used to inoculate prewarmed medium to an initial OD₆₀₀ of 0.1.
