Toward a mathematical theory of communication for the human connectome. (A) Functional and structural connectomes are extracted from brain data for a multimodal brain parcellation (Glasser et al., 2016). (B) For every shortest path between a source-target pair of brain regions, path processing score (PPS) is computed and the path is assigned to its correspondent communication regime. (C) For each communication regime, path broadcasting strength (PBS) is evaluated to determine the spread of information across the shortest path.
