Expression levels of the icl1 gene in the WT, ΔramB, ΔprpR, and ΔramB ΔprpR mutant strains of M. smegmatis. The WT, ΔramB, ΔprpR, and ΔramB ΔprpR mutant strains containing the icl1::lacZ translational fusion plasmid pNCIIicl1 were grown aerobically to an OD₆₀₀ of 0.45 to 0.5 in 7H9 medium supplemented with 10 mM glucose or 10 mM acetate as the sole carbon source. Cell-free crude extracts were used to measure β-galactosidase activity. All values provided were determined from three biological replicates. The error bars indicate the standard deviations.
