Formic acid (FA) and KMnO₄ interference assays were carried out as described in the legends to Fig. 3 and 4 except that [³²P]dTTP was used for the primer extension reactions instead of [³²P]dGTP. The data presented are those obtained in 5% formic acid assays and 0.15 mM KMnO₄ assays of oligo tel9.
