Sleep parameters for contralateral and ipsilateral hemispheres in sham and PBBI animals in the light phase during the acute post-injury period. Time spent in each vigilance state was collapsed over 12 h bins and compared between hemispheres and injury groups. (A) PBBI rats showed significant increases in NREM sleep with accompanying decreases in REM sleep, (B) shorter periods of wake after sleep onset (WASO), (C) fewer sleep stage transitions, (D) fewer sleep stage bouts, and (E) increased mean bout duration during NREM sleep (ipsilateral side only).
