On the left figure it is about a 58-year-old woman with a severe case of Volkmann Ischemic Contracture complicated by an anaerobic bacteria infection; we can still see the traces of the bandage. The right picture is the same patient with an X-ray showing a wrist fracture and gas bubbles inside the soft tissue of the forearm, confirming gas gangrene.
