^aD7 cells were incubated for 24 h in medium without sucrose and then labeled with ³⁵S-labeled amino acids in the presence of Chx and/or sucrose for 6 h. The label incorporated into proteins was determined for triplicate samples by TCA precipitation. Control cells supplied with sucrose alone (0 μM Chx) for 6 h incorporated 48% ± 4.3% of the total intracellular ³⁵S label into protein. This was defined as maximal (100%) incorporation, and other results are presented as a percentage of this level.
