Experimental model of incomplete tumor resection. (a) (Left to right) Panc02 flank tumors were allowed to grow to 1 cm in diameter prior to incomplete resection, leaving a 1 mm rim of tumor on the muscle bed (arrow). A hyaluronic acid hydrogel disc (inset) was implanted adjacent to the tumor bed and the wound closed with sutures and clips. (b) (Left to right) Tumors and surrounding granulation tissue were excised on postoperative day 3, 5 and 7.
