Bacterial counts (CFU/mL) of Pseudomonas aeruginosa wild-type reference strain PAO1 which is non-hypermutable (A) and its PAOΔmutS isogenic hypermutable strain (B) in the hollow-fibre in vitro infection model over 10 days (Landersdorfer et al., 2018). Each strain had a meropenem MIC of 1 mg/L and each was exposed to two meropenem dosing regimens (3 g/day as a continuous infusion [red triangles] generating exposure of 100%fT>5×MIC and 1 g as 30 min intravenous infusion every 8 h [inverted blue triangles] generating exposure of 36%fT>5×MIC).
