Increased oxidative stress in Tsc1-cKO retina. In vivo detection of ROS production via intraperitoneal injection of DHE revealed that retina sections from 5-month-old Tsc1-cKO mice (c) and 24-month-old C57BL/6 (old) (b) produced more ROS than age-matched control (Ctrl) mice (a). The staining was repeated on three different animals in each group. (d) The average DHE fluorescent signal intensities in Tsc1-cKO, old-aged, and control retina. The fluorescent intensity was quantified using ImageJ. The averaged signal intensity of the control group was set as 100%. Error bar represented SE. (e) Quantification of MDA in the retina of Tsc1-cKO, control, and old C57BL/6 group. Three retina samples of each group were analyzed, and the results were averaged. Error bar represented SE. Scale bar: 100 μm. p < 0.05 by unpaired Students' t-test between experimental group and controls.
