Fetal liver cells from normal and mutant embryos stained with May Grünwald Giemsa. E11 embryos were collected, and smears from normal (A) and mutant (B) livers were prepared and stained with May Grünwald Giemsa. The predominant cells present in the smear prepared from the mutant embryo were orthochromatic (on) and polychromatophilic (pon) normoblasts. Note the absence of pronormoblasts (prn) and basophilic normoblasts (bn) in the mutant embryo.
