Unlike Bcl-xL, ROS scavengers cannot protect cells from the initial decrease in ΔΨm following TNF-α treatment. TMRE staining followed by FACS analysis was used to monitor the ΔΨm in untreated cells (shaded area), in cells treated with TNF-α for 3 h (thick line) or in cells treated with FCCP for 3 h (dashed line).
