C/EBPα-mediated growth arrest. FACS sorting of C/EBPα-expressing cells was performed. Untreated S6 cells (A) were compared to S6 cells treated with 10⁻⁷ M estradiol (E₂) for 48 h (B). The percentage of cells at each phase was determined. (C) Approximately 25,000 cells of clones S6 and SCAT were plated per well of a six-well culture dish. Cells were either left untreated or treated with 10⁻⁸ M estradiol (est17β) and counted after 2 and 4 days using a hemocytometer.
