Representative images showing the immunohistochemical staining for F4/80-positive monocyte-derived macrophages (A) and adhesion molecule VCAM-1 (B) in aortic cross-sections of C57BL/6 mice. C57BL/6 mice were fed AIN-93G rodent diets with and without 0.4% resveratrol for one week followed by 25 μg/kg/day of TNF-α injected intraperitoneally for 7 days. After the treatment periods, the animals’ aortas were harvested for sectioning. Quantitative analysis of F4/80- (C) and VCAM-1- (D) positive areas were performed. Arrows indicate typical positive-stained regions at a magnification of 40× (scale bar = 50 μm).
