The number of neurons in culture declined following the combined exposure to Aβ42 protofibrils and TBI. (A) Representative fluorescence microscopy images of neurons (βIII tubulin) and (B) the percentage of neurons in culture (calculated by reference to the total number of viable cells). The percentage of neurons in cultures exposed to Aβ42 protofibrils and TBI alone did not differ from control cultures, while the combination (TBI + PF) resulted in a lower percentage of neurons. Ten images per independent cell culture (n = 3) and experimental group were analyzed and reported. Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal–Wallis test followed by Dunn’s multiple comparisons test, *p ≤ 0.05 **p ≤ 0.01 ***p ≤ 0.001. Scale bar 100 µm.
