All female rats exposed to TMT (with bedding) engaged in defensive digging (A), immobility (B) and avoidance (C), but RE inactivation did not alter active or passive coping behaviors during TMT exposure. During context re-exposure with bedding, inactivation of the RE had no effect on context re-exposure behavior, but rats showed reactivity to TMT-paired context through increased defensive digging (D) and immobility (E) but not avoidance, (F).
