Screening Criteria for Prediabetes and T2DM in Asymptomatic Youth with BMI ≥85th Percentile

History of Gestational Diabetes during the child’s gestation
Family Hisotry of T2DM in first or second-degree family member
Race and/or ethnicity: American Indian, African American, Hispanic, Asian American and/or Pacific Islander,
Conditions associated with insulin resistance:
 -Primary hypertension
 -Acanthosis nigricans
 -Dyslipidemia
 -PCOS
 -History of SGA or IUGR

Notes: Youths at puberty are at the highest risk. Screening should begin at the age of 10 years old or at the onset of puberty. Data from Hannon TS. 44
