(A) Design of the experimental tank during the acquisition phase. The experimental tank had three different chambers for individual testing of fish. Gray opaque plastic dividers separated each chamber. During the acquisition phase each fish received two copies of the same object, however, which type of object (pink bead or brown bead) was alternated to provide equal numbers of fish within each treatment that had been exposed to the different objects.
