  Demembranated sperm chromatin was preincubated in Xenopus egg extract, depleted for MEL28/ELYS or Nup50 (B), or control treated (mock, A). After 10 min, membranes were added to the reaction. Reactions were stopped at the indicated time points by fixation and analyzed by confocal microscopy after immunostaining with α‐MEL28/ELYS, α‐Nup50, and mAb414.
