The rupture site was determined by locating the hole or fissure during autopsy. The rupture sites in 3 mice could not be determined due to tearing after adhesion of the heart to the chest wall during autopsy. Rupture and nonrupture death rates were analyzed by Pearson χ2 test. caHetKO‐MI indicates cardiomyocyte‐specific Hif‐1α hetero‐knockout–myocardial infarction; CTL‐MI, control‐myocardial infarction; and Hif‐1α, hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1α.
