Use of food-grade dye (FD&C Blue No. 1 and 2; ≤1% of food mass consumed) facilitated intestinal transit time estimation in captive mountain lions (Puma concolor). Blue staining was visible in feces for 1 to 4 days after consumption of a bolus of dyed meat (top row), with intensity diminishing over time.
