Table 2.

Category scores by the international physical activity questionnaire

Activity degree Criteria
(a) Low Any one of the following 2 criteria
- No activity is reported OR
- Some activity is reported but not enough to meet categories 2 or 3.
(b) Moderate Either of the following 3 criteria
- 3 or more days of vigorous activity of at least 20 min per day OR
- 5 or more days of moderate-intensity activity and/or walking of at least 30 min per day OR
- 5 or more days of any combination of walking or moderate or vigorous intensity.
(c) High Any one of the following 2 criteria
- Vigorous activity on at least 3 days and accumulating at least 1,500 metabolic equivalent (MET)/min per week OR
- 7 or more days of any combination of walking or moderate- or vigorous-intensity activities, accumulating at least 3,000 MET/min per week.

Equations for calculating physical activity degree as follows. (a) Walking MET/min/week=3.3×min of activity/day×days per week. (b) Moderateintensity physical activity MET/min/week=4.0×min of activity/day×days per week. (c) Vigorous-intensity physical activity MET/min/week=8.0×min of activity/day×days per week. Total MET/min/week=a+b+c.
