Characteristics of level I trauma.

Level I activation criteria
Penetrating injury of the head, neck, torso, or extremities proximal to and including elbow or knee
Paralysis (i.e. spinal cord injury)
Fracture of two or more long bones
Amputation proximal to the wrist or ankle
Burns ≥30% total body surface area (TBSA)
Systolic blood pressure <90 at any time
GCS 9 and under
Age 14 y or younger
Intubated before arrival
Respiratory rate <10 or >30, in need of an emergency airway
