Transcranial laser therapy (TLT) of blast- and sham-exposed rats. (A) Design and timeline of experiments. At 2 months of age, rats were exposed to three 74.5-kPa blast or sham exposures delivered one per day for 3 consecutive days. Beginning 6.5 months after blast or sham exposure, rats received active or sham TLT for 6 min/d, delivered 5 days per week for 6 weeks. After treatment, rats were tested in light/dark escape, elevated zero maze, novel object recognition, novel object localization, and fear conditioning tasks.
