The RNA nuclease activity of the SMR domain of SOT1 can be inhibited by CAF proteins. The recombinant SOT1SMR protein, together with increasing concentrations of CAF1 (a) or CAF2 (b) proteins, was incubated with total wild-type Arabidopsis RNA at 25 °C for 30 min. The reaction products were separated on agarose/formaldehyde gels and observed using ethidium bromide staining. Three independent experiments were performed, and one representative experiment is shown.
