Blockade of N- and P/Q-type Ca²⁺ channels abolishes enmein inhibition of glutamate release. Glutamate release was evoked by 1 mM 4-AP in the absence (control) or presence of enmein, ω-CgTX GVIA + ω-AgTX IVA, or ω-CgTX GVIA + ω-AgTX IVA + enmein. Effect of enmein on the release of glutamate evoked by 15 mM KCl was also examined. Enmein was added 10 min before the addition of 4-AP, and other drugs were added 10 min before this. Data are presented as mean ± S.E.M. (n = 5 per group). ***, p < 0.001 vs. control group.
