PLS-DA model of primary vs non-primary synovial fluid samples. Partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) was conducted within the mixOmics R-package utilizing a CSS normalized counts table of taxon annotations identified using metatranscriptomic [MT] (a) and metagenomic [MG] (b) synovial fluid samples. The solid ellipses around sample groups indicate 95% confidence. Within the metatranscriptomic dataset we observe separation of primary and non-primary samples while a decrease in separation and differentiation is seen within metagenomic samples.
