The nitrogen cycle entails the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen, typically via lightning, microbes, or the addition of synthetic fertilizers. This can produce nitrates, nitrites, or ammonia that aids in crop production. Green ammonia adds fertilizer to the cycle without releasing nearly as much greenhouse gas.
